WHAT DO WE DO AS CHIROPRACTORS?

Dr. Tricia Smith and Dr. Tracy J. Smith are chiropractors in Sioux Falls that focus on problems of the bones, muscles, and nerves, and the cumulative effects that these problems have your health.  We alleviate these problems with the use of chiropractic adjustments, where we use our hands to gently and comfortably re-position joints which restores normal joint and nerve function.

We most commonly see people for chiropractic care in Sioux Falls for painful conditions such as; neck and back pain, headaches, or sciatica.  We also see a lot of arm/hand and leg/foot complaints, such as carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, chronic knee pain, and plantar fasciitis.  For some of these conditions, we often utilize a combination of chiropractic adjustments and our other therapies; massage therapy, ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, and acupuncture.  This is one of the things that makes our clinic unique, the ability to mix and match therapies to achieve better results.

HOW WILL YOU ADJUST ME?

We typically use manual "hands on" adjustments in which case you will typically hear the 'pop' of a joint.  However, some people cannot tolerate or don't prefer manual adjusting.

In those cases, we can use other techniques such as: The Activator (a gentle adjusting tool),  or our traction table, where we gently stretch the neck or back to restore motion and function.

DO I HAVE TO KEEP COMING BACK?

It completely depends on what you have going on and what your goals are.  Are you here for just pain treatment so you can go to work or get a good night's rest?  Were you in a major crash and sustained a severe whiplash that could lead to chronic lifelong pain if not fixed correctly?  Are you trying to get rid of hip bursitis and chronic knee pain so you can run a 5k, or even just get back into a gym and regain your youth?  Are you wanting to change your lifestyle, lose weight, increase energy and stamina?  Has this been going on for 5 years?  2 weeks?  Since this morning?  Your treatment depends on whether your issue is acute or chronic, what you need, and what you want.  Makes sense right?

IS IT SAFE?

Very safe!  One of the best ways to assess the risk involved with any health care provider is to look at their malpractice insurance costs.  For example, surgeons annual malpractice bills can reach into the tens of thousands of dollars.  Our annual malpractice insurance costs LESS than $1,000 per year!  Our car insurance is more expensive!

STUDY #1

We found NO evidence of excess risk of stroke associated with chiropractic care compared to primary medical care.  Medical doctors are not adjusting patients, so if the Chiropractic adjustments were the cause of strokes, the incidence of stroke would be significantly higher in the Chiropractic setting versus Medical Doctor setting, and this just isn't the case.

Risk of vertebrobasilar stroke and chiropractic care: results of a population-based control   case-control and case-crossover study.

STUDY #2

There is NO RUBUST DATA concerning the incidence or prevalence of adverse reactions after chiropractic.
