We often get referrals for the treatment of neuropathy.  This condition affects nearly 20 million Americans, about 1/15, and incredible statistic.  We will utilize acupuncture with these patients but its also important to recognize dietary changes can also provide a great deal of help in these cases.  A recent article in the American Chiropractor by Dr. Todd Singleton points out the following;

"To help a patient recover from neuropathy, it's important to maximize his or her intake of dark leafy greens, brightly colored vegetables, fresh fruits, and omega-3 rich fish (like salmon).  It's also important to reduce the patient's intake of inflammatory refined grains, refined vegetable oil, and refined sugar.  Because B vitamins are necessary for healthy nerves, you should recommend foods rich in this nutrient (mushrooms, lean meats, etc)."

So, we utilize a combination approach with acupuncture and dietary analysis when treating neuropathy and these patients often do well with care.

If you or someone you knows suffer from neuropathy in the Sioux Falls area, contact our office at 373-9090 to set up a consultation.
